While growing up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Tyron often explored his creative side as a child through building things, such as tree forts, bicycles and eventually a log cabin, which he and his mother and brother actually lived in for three years. In high school, he drifted more towards the sciences, but the arts still lingered on his mind. So the day that a talent scout stopped him on the street at the age of 18 and asked him if he wanted to be in commercials, he didn’t say yes immediately, but eventually took up the offer.
Various photographers soon noticed Tyron‚Äôs strong good looks, and he was quickly immersed into the world of modeling and commercials, with acting taking a back seat for a few years. But the urge to perform in front of a camera never left him and, after taking some training and working as an extra on many of the Vancouver based productions (such as the “X-Files” and “Millennium”), casting directors began to take notice.
His good looks and natural talent and charisma on screen soon lead to actual roles in various television programs, including “Breaker High” for UPN, two large roles on “First Wave” for producer Francis Ford Coppola and the USA Network, the television movie “Shutter Speed” for TNT, “The John Denver Story” for CBS and a Guest Star on the NBC/PAX series “Mysterious Ways”. Tyron also had one of the lead roles in the first season of the CBC teen drama “Edgemont Road”, which began airing in Canada in September 2000 and now airs internationally.
Tyron also stars in two major projects for ABC Television and Hallmark. He plays the lead role of Prince Alfred in the live action remake of “Snow White” which aired in March of 2002 and the lead role of Karl in the 3 part mini-series “Dinotopia”, which shot in London and various other European and Asian locations from September 2000 through September 2001. “Dinotopia”, one of the most ambitious mini-series ever made with an estimated budget in the $100 million range, premiered to hit-status ratings on ABC May of 2002 and was nominated for 6 Emmy Awards, including Best Mini-Series (winning Best Special Effects.).
Recently, Tyron completed the role of “Eric” in the FOX pilot “Wonderfalls”, which was just picked up for 13 episodes. This wonderful series, from the creative mind of Todd Holland, is schedule to debut on FOX in January, 2004 and begins shooting mid-July in Toronto.
Tyron also co-stars opposite Sarah Polley in the feature “My Life Without Me”, produced by Oscar winning director Pedro Almodovar and has a lead in the feature “House of the Dead” which will be distributed in October, 2003 by Artisan.
Tyron has also appeared in several major commercial campaigns for “Salon Selectives”, “Haggar Slacks”, “The Florida Board of Health”, “GTS Communications” (in Europe only), and “B.C. Tel/Telus”, just to name a few.
